HYPEBEAST

Nicole Naone's art is born of confusion — in her own words, she seeks to “construct a language that shows both the supple illusions of womanhood and the crude reality of the natural world.” In “mass” – her debut solo exhibition at Honolulu’s The Human Imagination – this confusion shows itself in iterations of the soft female form in hard mediums of bronze, foam, plaster, along with illustrations. Furthermore, though effortless-looking, the smooth, organic lines and silhouettes present in her work require a special precision and careful crafting. In this video preview for the exhibition we get a glimpse into this process of crafting a whole, finished product from conflicting halves. “mass” will run for the entire month of August.
