Six: Society of Animals Fun Time

Nicole Naone : July 10, 2010 3:49 am : My Blog

Schools pau and the summer has finally begun (cheehoooooooo).  So  I decided to give myself a week where I could just be in my own super fun no stress magic unicorniverse and so far so super good.

Got hungry, so the monkey and I got the three prong and headed on out to Hanauma to catch us some lunch.

If your garden does not come with a Chinese ice cream truck than you should get rid of it.

Went to the Goodwills to find me some vinyl sweetness and Blaine found what we thought was a  won bok made of porcelain which turned out to be a dog made of won bok made of porcelain.

Found more animals made out of animal at the Honolulu Zoo.  Things learned: Ghandi made it for us (thanks), the lions all got a cold (bummer), Rusti the Pongo pygmaeus that I remember from going to the zoo during childhood is totally still alive (congrats), and pretending like you and your bf are Romeo and Juliet from that Dicaprio movie will make kids scared:

I love when you find Hawaiian things in not Hawaiian places. Like a woman wearing a Mamo Howell mu’umu’u playing pool in a Dave & Busters:

I always forget how beautiful the Hawai’i is until you go windward and you’re greeted by magic mountains.

holy ko'olau

Super obsessed with Brent Skidmore right now.

Brent Skidmore

I guess it should be expected, and not like mine is magical, but can I just say that sculptors have the ugliest websites ever?

Dear Michina Koide, please be my third best friend and do my nails every day forever.

Seriously almost pissed my pants when this happened today:

Maybe Four: June

Nicole Naone : June 7, 2010 8:08 am : My Blog

Whooooops.  It’s been a little long since I blogged.  Looks like once a month was harder than I thought.  Aaaaanyways, this is my mayish junish blog.  Things learned: I suck at dovetailing, I love waffles more than ever before, and I am unrecognizable with bangs.

May Day is Lei Day in Hawai’i Nei!  The monkey and I went to Kamehameha to see the baby warriors hula.  You kids better be thinking of ways to get our land back.

May also means birthday. 23 years old. Yikes. This birthday week was full of favsies and awesomeness:

Thank you x 1000 to Chuck and Mari for the surprise birthday action at the If Not Now When fundraiser dinner. Sorry for stealing your seat Congresswoman Hirono. I voted for you in 2006. You’re awesome.

For reasons explained in this video of my second birthday party (above), my third birthday celebration (bellow) provided me with tools to improve for next year:

June is going to be full of magic.  Kind of WAY looking forward to the  12th for  John Hook’s diarrhetic manifestation of Mustache Power.

I hope he has his Polaroid Project in it. The “Alcoholic” hasn’t updated it in forever but his Chunzilla is still pretty magical.

If you’re living under a rock and wondering who the cuteypie on the right of my Polaroid is, it’s my Kiani magic model gorging out some Lornnie Louie lingerie. Book her.

The Contemporary Museum is exhibiting some of my most favorite favorite favorite people right now in the While You Were Sleeping Exhibit.

While You Were Sleeping | The Contemporary Museum | Cafe Installation June 2010 from Joseph K Pa’ahana on Vimeo.

It’s got Joseph Pa’ahana who (sorry Grandma) makes the best chicken long rice you’ll ever have in your entire life. Aaron Yoshino who I’m pretty sure is the head photographer for like 80 Hawai’i magazines, the ever dashing Grady Gillan QUICK name a camera, yup Gradys got it, and the cherry of my sundae, shirley temple, and cigarette Christa Wittmier.

Nextdoorsies having DJ Benzi on the 18th aaaand DasRacist on the 24th?!  All in one month?!  No can hando!

Baaaaaaaaasically, May was good, June is prob gonna be even gooder.  Favorite things in the whole world right now:

Oh Prokofiev, you touch me like no other.

Gehard Demetz totally my favorite wooder right now.

Seriously this entire album: To Binge is bestest

Two: Legit to Quit

Nicole Naone : April 10, 2010 3:34 am : My Blog

Been about a month since my last blog. I think I’m going to make this a monthly thing? Is that what people usually do? Aaaanyways, March had a bunch of madge and so far April is proving itself to be quite wonderful as well.

While some of his text treatments are a little too similar to this, I’m still really feeling Darren Newman.

The fatal attraction to cuteness that has a tendency to creep up on my Asian ass once in a while cannot help but ADORE Ms.Starchild. I want her in doll form attached to my cell phone.

More than anything I’m kind of WAY excited for Amplive’s Rainydayz Remixes and the Zion-I show coming up at Nextdoor on April 28th and 30th. Kind of WAY WAY WAY excited.

Hardly go out much anymore (which only bums me out because it means seeing less of my lover) but was very happy to make an exception for the kids at FLUXhawaii who were launching their second issue. I’m not just saying this because I won a cash machine and my boyfriend won an iTouch from them, or because I adore Cody Matsukawa, but Flux really is some great reading. Go buy one.

My current obsession is with Yixing teapots is driving me a bit batty.  My place is in Chinatown and I still cannot figure out how to get my hands on ANYTHING even remotely close to ceramics from this particular area of China.  Help!  I don’t like tea.  Or pot.  But I KNOW THAT I NEED THIS MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD.

Blogging gets not fun after the first 30 minutes so I think I’m pau.

One: Favesies

Nicole Naone : March 4, 2010 10:24 pm : My Blog

First blog ever. Yowza. Not that great of a blogger. One day I’ll be on this level but until then, the following are some of my current faves:

Jessica Hische by far my favorite illustrator right now:

She has a fabulous blog, The Daily Drop is where she posts different letters she’s created. They’re all pretty awesome:

So far, this website, Everything Is Terrible has yet to disappoint me. fun fun fun funniest ever ever ever forever:

If you’re an art collector on a budget, go to 20×200 where you can get super awesome prints by super awesome artists starting at just $20.00.

Also available through my links, this magic face writes her ass off. Here is something she said today while we were dairy queening: ”Maybe your asshole has been torn apart by the atomic bomb of life, but mine knows the difference between toilet paper and lettuce.”

Feel extremely honored to have spent some time with Godhead DJ KOOL HERC. Inspirational, hilarious, and above all g i a n t. Definitely favorite person forever.
