Meowy Christmas

Nicole Naone : December 15, 2011 9:54 am : Blogging, My Blog

Christmas is almost here!!!!!!!  Joseph Pa’ahana is so best.  He made this for Nextdoor’s December Broadcast.

It’s not as magia as Joseph’s but I made a thing for Nextdoor too.  Chris helped me put it up but it was sad installing over Aaron’s Angry WoeWookie  :(

Christalani had some SuperSweet things to say about it.  She pretty much made me feel like I was the best ever.

Here’s one of the loves of my life Grady in front of it.

And here’s a video of the love of Grady’s life talking about the loves of his life

If anyone wanna buy me this nude study by Georgia O’Keeffee from 1917 for Christmas they totally should

I still cannot believe that over ten thousand people blogged this photo.  Mark’s the best.

Here’s a self portrait he did.  Love this.

I definitely didn’t know Rodin painted.  I definitely definitely didn’t know he was painting Japanese women.  So if anyone wants to buy me tickets to this exhibition in Paris as the greatest Christmas gift of all time that would be cool too.

Okay maybe that’s not the greatest gift of all time.   Being caught real-smiling with your mother way greater.  Thanks MiKeany :)

Nicole Naone : November 17, 2011 2:38 am : Blogging, My Blog

Powwowis coming up!  How exciting!  Here’s me and a fellow Powwow artist painting live at the VIP fundraiser at the Pacific Club.  It was pretty funsies.  I did a portrait of one Miss Venezuela 2011, Dayna Kalakau:

Out now is the new Flux Magazine!  I have illustrations in it :) They’re paper cutouts over a watercolor wash.

Thanks to my Wauwua shooting the cutouts!  This one time she bought a red pen and approximately a million of these started happening:
I have also started my Christmas shopping.  I hope this homo enjoys this pediatric examination table I got him from the Children’s Hosptial!
Still not quite sure what I’m getting my BFF Blainey other than hugggggssssssssssss!

Sorry I suck at blogging.  It’s been five months.  Whoooops :/ But at least it’s because I’m super busy real lifeing!  I do stay on my twitter, so if anything, go there?  Or don’t go there.  I don’t know.  Anyways, here’s whats good.  I have no idea how to put it in here but click on this, it’s one of the most magical things I’ve seen in a long time.  My Blainey showed it to me.  I love 3D the mostest.  But sometimes I like to keep my 2D hand in just to make sure it didn’t go away.  Here’s me boning:

So stoked to be able to work for Scott and KC, to make this for the new Disney Resort in Hawai’i.  Their stuffs seriously so awesome.

Go download my buddy Jason’s new album it’s super magia.

In addition to musicing, he owns a theater in Pilsen, Chicago.  Last time I was there, this was the best part about it:

Loved the Young Artist’s Exhibition at HAA.  My favorites from the show were by an eight year old named Jason Olaru

and a ten year old named Seina Kurihan

Also, I finally got to put a face to a name when I shot with Mark Kushimi.  One of the coolest shoots I ever ever did.  Such a talented dude.  I have no idea why my dumbass got noted over 4,000 times on his tumblr, but I’m gonna guess it’s because of his Soskei magic.

And scene.

Ten: Big Fat Fwens

Nicole Naone : May 18, 2011 3:22 am : Blogging, My Blog

Per usual it took me forever to blog again.  It’s so hard!  I thought getting an iPhone would make me way more technically savvy, but all it really did was make me obsessed with my Tiny Zoo, Pocket Frog, and Money Pig.  But I’m not one of those crazy gamers that fight zombies on their phones but couldn’t bus a grape in a fruit fight during real time.  I play with fake animals on my phone and in real life.  (photo cred nextdoor)

I also played fake train trips:

I was even shown a fake me:

But no matter how much fakery I surround myself with, I feel very lucky to have the greatest friends and family in the world to keep me super real.  (photo cred MiKeany)

Like my Blainey!  She has just started writing for All That Is Interesting and so far all of her posts are pretty rad.  Greyhound dialysis machine situation?! What?!

Or my other favorite writer Matty who edits The Honolulu Weekly wrote an awesome article for Thought Catalog.  His Margaret Cho Interview is pretty real too. (photo cred Dana Paresa)

Or my sweet sweet Tedji Boomboom making all sorts of musical magic! (photo cred Landon Osamu)

Or my two other favorite people in the whole wide world who are in this issue Flux Magazine, Dana Paresa and Linda Yamamoto:

Wait why was there no flux release party this issue?!?  Here’s me after the last one sneak peaking POW WOW.

Btw HOLY TOLEDO POW WOW was magical!  Everyone and their mom has already blogged about it so theres no need for me to too.  But seriously, it was pretty neat.

무궁화 + 목란

Nicole Naone : March 11, 2011 11:42 pm : Blogging, My Blog

One way this reads 무궁화 (South Korean national flower) and the other way it reads 목란 (North Korean national flower).  Both share their ㅁ.   I was trying to make something about peace but I never finished this and ended up using the wood to make a box for my brother’s knives.  Which I’m assuming means I like fighting more than peacing.

Nine: Shine

Nicole Naone : February 10, 2011 1:06 am : My Blog

Is it seriously already February?!  Yikes!  Well my New Years Eve at Nextdoor was pretty intense.  Ruv ru Rinda :) I guess this about sums it up:

Sooooo here’s some shmodeling shtuffs.  Me and  Justine, shoot shooting away with Aaron Yoshino.

It was pretty neato banditos cause this issue of Flux Magazine had me shmodeling and (f)arting!

This issue also has my 여동생 inside!

Check out her amazing notes from class.  A 300 level class.  Seriously.

Youtube always reading my mind!!!!!!!

Seriously the shittiest part about arting

My “bad ass” is also in the current issue of Contrast Magazine along with my favorite homosexual.

It also featured the awesome musical duo ALT|AIR . They are 50% super straight and definitely not gay guy, 25% gnome, 25% beautiful anime princess, all while being 100% magic fun all day everyday.

If you haven’t gotten your copy of Grady Gillan‘s Aloha Friday yet you’re super fired!

Favorite art show so far this year was curated by  Dominc Billiand featuring Mary Mitsuda and some other winners.

Actually maybe the show wasn’t good.  Maybe I just really liked it because I was this-ing with this-one when I went.

Keepin it real.  Real.  Safe.

Eight: Straight Lying

Nicole Naone : December 6, 2010 2:58 am : My Blog

Christmas is right around the corner!!! So excited! Which obviously means I have been this-ing all day everyday.

In edition to The Carpenters helping me celebrate the birth of my favorite Carpenter, the art fagging has been on ultra high blast!!!!!

Never thought I’d be arting with superarters like, Robert Williams, Ron English, or  Jasper Wong.  But for Hurley’s Anti-Canvas Show, I got to do just that!  Thanks to Contrast Magazine for inviting me to be apart of it :)

Here are two of my faves from the show, Bigfoot + Zakarina Noyle:

My brain has been so 3D’d that I had a hard time getting into 2D so to design the shorts I ended up taking picture of one of my sculptures and just kind of Eschering it.

Super honored to work with the Department of Public Works boys club .  Getting to be in an a show with Matthew Yee feels like getting to fight along side Obi-Wan Kenobi.

For more detailed shots of my piece click here.

Mikey caught me being the world’s greatest tape helper:

The super magical Grady Gillan was also in the Department of Public Work’s “shhhow”.  But this is us at a different show:

My oldest and wisest bff Fred Roster had the most awesomest awesome show at Gucci Waikiki.  The show went through out three floors of the store and it was seriously kinda the greatest thing ever.  The FRoster made models of his actual dog Bella on wheels so that you could walk her around the show.

It’s kind of hard to see but heres a ring with the same dog by the FRoster:

Okay back to Christmas.  If you are confused as to what to purchase me for the birth of our Lord and Savior, as of recent I have been way obsessed with putting salutation cats on my nails:

Or buy me  Nicolette Davenport‘s  Cruella DeVille illustration:

In arting + Christmas news heres a mailer from Flux Magazine with my illustrations on it:

Here is one of my favorite Christmas videos of all time.  It’s from 2007, and my little brother is five years old.

Aaaand thats enough blogging for me for the rest of this year I think.  See you in the 2011′s!

Seven: Eleven

Nicole Naone : October 11, 2010 11:15 pm : My Blog

Soooooo I aint played blog magic in a while (sorry Mom + the 3 other people who read this).  Things have been great though.  Lots of arting fun time.  Lots of 3D play time.   Had an opening at Fishcake with Mark Chai, Eric Chun and a bunch of other talented homos with mad skill. I didn’t really get any pictures (but will put a bunch up asapsies) other than the highlight of my night  - Jaime bringing me a fillet o fish (sandwich not shown here):

Side step couple months back- Me and Jaime playing cowboys and indians:

After the opening Mattzeus took me to Nobu.  He’s doing an article on them so we got to taste a bunch of magic there.

Everything was winnersssss until a bandsaw pez dispenser-ed my finger  :( but SUPER cool doctor sewed around my Jaso nail art (thanks):

My favorite panda stepped in the 808 for a second.  We Mexican restauranted and got highx40ft in Nextdoor.

First person to buy me this Zaha Hadid lamp wins me performing this with this.

Zaha Hadid

The Contemporary really never gets old for me.  So i decided to start working there.

Def one of my favorite places on O’ahu, largely because of Tom Wesselmann’s dropped bra:

I’m usually not into caucasians from Florida or recycling, but Christopher Fennel is SO my favorite sculptor right now.  Check his bus bus stop!

Speaking of artists I likeeeeeeeeeeeee my 여동생 is birthdaying on the 13th! If you find yourself enjoying the photo bellow a wittle too much and want to lurk more, she got Bamboo Sky‘s campaign this season so you can lurk her there :) oooooor on Wednesday at Nextdoor with Hieroglyphics’ APLUS helping blow the candles out.

Ruv ru meow meow may all your birthday wishes come true!!!!!!!!!!!

Six: Society of Animals Fun Time

Nicole Naone : July 10, 2010 3:49 am : My Blog

Schools pau and the summer has finally begun (cheehoooooooo).  So  I decided to give myself a week where I could just be in my own super fun no stress magic unicorniverse and so far so super good.

Got hungry, so the monkey and I got the three prong and headed on out to Hanauma to catch us some lunch.

If your garden does not come with a Chinese ice cream truck than you should get rid of it.

Went to the Goodwills to find me some vinyl sweetness and Blaine found what we thought was a  won bok made of porcelain which turned out to be a dog made of won bok made of porcelain.

Found more animals made out of animal at the Honolulu Zoo.  Things learned: Ghandi made it for us (thanks), the lions all got a cold (bummer), Rusti the Pongo pygmaeus that I remember from going to the zoo during childhood is totally still alive (congrats), and pretending like you and your bf are Romeo and Juliet from that Dicaprio movie will make kids scared:

I love when you find Hawaiian things in not Hawaiian places. Like a woman wearing a Mamo Howell mu’umu’u playing pool in a Dave & Busters:

I always forget how beautiful the Hawai’i is until you go windward and you’re greeted by magic mountains.

holy ko'olau

Brent Skidmore

Brent Skidmore

I guess it should be expected, and not like mine is magical, but can I just say that sculptors have the ugliest websites ever?

Dear Michina Koide, please be my third best friend and do my nails every day forever.

Michina

Seriously almost pissed my pants when this happened today:
